ALS Research Forum Branding

Client: B3 Strategy

B3 Strategy approached Mandy to develop a distinct event brand for the ALS Canada Research Forum. As part of the creative direction provided, the brand was to contain dynamic and always evolving imagery along with small elements assembled to create words and images. The overarching story was to visually communicate individual people and pieces of information coming together at the forum to help shape the big picture.

ALS Canada is on a mission to change the reality for people living with ALS. This is accomplished through support services in the community along with advocacy and investment in ALS research. The research forum is an opportunity for researchers and ALS canada supporters to come together to learn the scientific advancements made for ALS.

The halftone technique inspired the construction of the supergraphic. Small and large dots come together to form a circular shape, which symbolises people and information coming together at the forum to help shape a future without ALS. The circular shape used throughout the branding can also represent our world and the success of a future without ALS. The circular shape was born through the descriptive words used to describe the purpose of researchers and ALS supporters–1. Discover, 2. Collaborate, and 3. Empower. Inorder to visually tell the story of people and information coming together to help shape the big picture, a common theme was found between the three words and event logo "An evening of discovery + inspiration". Each word contained a letter 'O'– which was replaced with the final super graphic to create unity between everyone joining the forum.
